**Announcement to the Western Valley Minor Hockey Association Families and Players**

Dear Western Valley Minor Hockey Association Family,

I hope this message finds you well. After many rewarding years serving as your President, I have submitted my resignation following my recent appointment as the President of the U13 AAA league with Hockey Nova Scotia for the 2024-25 season.

It is with great confidence that I announce David McDow as the new interim President for the upcoming 2024-25 season. David brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this role, and I am certain he, along with the rest of the Executive and Board, will lead our association with the same passion and commitment that have been the hallmarks of our community.

As your outgoing President, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for the support, cooperation, and friendship you have all shown me over the years. It has been an honor to serve you and work alongside such an incredible group of individuals.

While I am stepping into a new role, I remain committed to the Western Valley Minor Hockey Association. I will be here to assist David and the new Executive team during this transition and beyond, ensuring that the values and vision we have all worked so hard to cultivate continue to thrive.

Please join me in extending your full support to David McDow and the Executive as they steer our association through the coming months. I have every confidence that together, we will continue to build on the strong foundation we've established.

Thank you all for your ongoing dedication to our players and our community.

Western Valley Minor Hockey Association

Dear Members of the Executive Committee,

It is with a mixture of pride and regret that I submit my resignation as President of the Western Valley Minor Hockey Association, effective immediately. Serving as your president for over a decade has been an absolute pleasure and an honor.

Minor hockey has always been my passion and witnessing the evolution of Western Valley from five different organizations into one strong, competitive, and unified association has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The commitment and dedication of our volunteers have transformed our association into a place where players are proud to represent us, and where the community feels a deep sense of belonging and pride.

I have been contemplating taking on a higher level of responsibility within the hockey community for some time now. I am excited to announce that I have been selected as the new president of the U13 AAA Hockey League by Hockey Nova Scotia. This new role presents an incredible opportunity to contribute to the sport at a higher level, and I am eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities that come with it.

Volunteering in minor hockey is one of the most rewarding yet challenging endeavors. It has been immensely gratifying to see how our collective efforts have strengthened Western Valley, making it a premier place for young athletes to develop their skills and passion for hockey. The new members of the executive committee, alongside our seasoned veterans, have done a remarkable job in bolstering our hockey community and ensuring its continued growth and success.

Although I am stepping down as president, I want to assure you that I will remain actively involved with Western Valley Minor Hockey Association. I will continue to hold the role of past president and advisor for the upcoming season to ensure a smooth transition. I am committed to working hard with the executive team to make this process as seamless as possible.

While I regret stepping away from the association that has been such a significant part of my life, I am confident that the current executive will continue to lead Western Valley to new heights. I leave with the satisfaction of knowing that our association is in capable hands and will remain a fantastic place for players to learn, grow, and compete.

Thank you for the incredible support, dedication, and friendship you have all shown me over the years. It has been a privilege to serve as your president, and I look forward to seeing Western Valley Minor Hockey continue to thrive.

Warmest regards,

wayne fowler

Team Formations and Player Releases

**Point of Clarification**

Questions have been asked about team formations and player releases. WVMHA is hosting U11 AA, U13 AA, U15 AA and U18 A levels of play. Therefore, the executive has discussed and directed that no releases will be granted for the upcoming 2023-24 season to other associations because we are offering the highest level of play at minor (this excludes AAA/Major, see notes).

Notes:
  • There are no releases required to U13 AAA Jets, U15 Major Wildcats, U16 AAA Wildcats, U18 Major Wildcats, or High School Teams within our region if players are successful in obtaining a roster position at those respective levels.
  • If unsuccessful in making a Valley AAA/Major team, there are separate release considerations and processes in order to tryout for a non-Valley AAA/Major team.
Please contact us if you have any questions.

Regular Season & Tryout Registration

**Point of Clarification**

There have been some questions regarding which phase or phases are required to play with WVMHA this year. The following steps are required:

  1. Register your player for the regular season.
  2. If your intentions are to play Recreational / C hockey then no further steps are required.
  3. If your intentions are to tryout for competitive hockey AAA-B, you must also sign up for the tryout evaluations.
  4. The intent of the “pre eval skate sessions” are to provide players an opportunity to touch the ice prior to evaluations, and are not mandatory.
  5. Please adhere to the deadlines found on the website, as late fees will apply to competitive tryouts costs.
Thank you for your support and understanding. Photo attached indicating Regular Season (C only) with red circle and Tryout Registration (AAA-B) with blue circle.

**Again if you are interested in competitive hockey you must complete both registrations as indicated by the blue circle in the photo**
